Our Chairman has already publicly thanked Mr McEvoy, at a meeting of over 200 residents, for giving us the idea of a referendum (having already initiated a referendum in Canton, and successfully managed to convince the Council to change their minds). Having watched Mr McEvoy's video (below), I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank straight-talking Mr McEvoy for once again telling it like it is. In this video, Mr McEvoy's old mate refers to him as a gentleman and a scholar. In contrast, I found Mr McEvoy's promotional-video to be something of an eye opener; chock full of contradictions to the Mr McEvoy we see today - “Absolutely Shocking!”
Having watched him criticise all the other political parties apart from the one he is attempting to get elected under, with this old video, I am now left wondering what Mr McEvoy's current political views and policies actually are. These two videos, along with his current actions, which are clearly contrary to the policies of the party he now represents on our Council, as well as his unquestioning support for the “Fib Dems”, whom he allegedly, previously loathed, should make that perfectly clear.
In the video, he complains that the council (of then) wanted to sell off the school playing fields of Cantonian High to be built on and says: "they're precious, we need to keep them!"
In contrast, the Neil McEvoy of today wants to sell off the school-grounds of TWO of our community’s schools to private developers for building and build on our PARK!
So, what does NEIL stand for? - No Electorate Interest Loyalty, or maybe: Negative Environmental Impact Likely, both seem to be equally applicable, take your pick! It seems that Mr McEvoy's real and only loyalties are to himself.
Anyone wonder why these videos keep getting deleted?
In light of Mr McEvoy's current political tactics and close involvement with Council leader Rodney Berman and his “Fib Dems” (as Mr McEvoy refers to them in his own video) with their Corporate-Orc, undemocratic-dictatorship tactics, I consider his total back-peddling on previous proclamations to be:
“Absolutely Incredible!”
We don't want your concrete jungle!
We are a group of upwards of 500 members, from the Llanrumney and Rumney areas as well as others from outside these areas with an interest in the Rumney Recreation Grounds and Eastern Leisure Centre, who for various reasons are in opposition to Cardiff County Council building a new combined school for Llanrumney and Rumney on that site and selling the land of the existing two schools to developers and we need your support!
It is not that we are opposed to the building of a new school per se, on the contrary we welcome such development and improvements in our area which are long overdue. What we are opposed to however, is the building of such a school on a greenfield site, namely our parkland at Rumney Recreation Ground.
Our meetings are held at The Royal British Legion on British Legion Drive, Llanrumney, who have kindly allowed us to use their premises to hold our meetings for this campaign.
